"Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

Dear friends,

You are, of course, all aware of the current coronavirus crisis gripping the world, and the fast changing advice from the UK government about how to combat it.  On Monday (16/3/20), the nation was asked to avoid all non essential social contact.

Therefore, St Peters IPC will be suspending all our public activities with immediate effect - including our Sunday services, house groups and prayer meetings, as well as the planned Quiz Night. Many other churches are taking the same action.

The government advice is also to not meet up with family or friends socially.  Read the advice here.  But we can and should maintain frequent contact with one another in other ways.

Few, if any, of us are qualified to comment on the government's strategy.  It is one of those situations where we need to trust and submit to those in authority over us.  Much more, however, we need to continue to trust our heavenly Father, who remains in complete control, even of this disease.  We can confidently claim promises from his word, such as the verse from Isaiah above, and where appropriate share that hope with others.

Here are some of the other steps we're taking:
  • We have divided the congregation between James, the deacons (Sarah Liechty and Andrew Pearman) and John Raines - so someone should be in touch soon just to check you're OK.
  • We are exploring options for a live link for Sunday morning (ie we can all go to the same webpage on Sunday morning to worship together).
  • We are working on how to best to coordinate needs and offers of help, including a central email address to use.
Do look out for emails with further details.

For now, if there is any help you, or anyone you know, needs from the church family, or if you are self isolating, do let us know.

Together in His hands,
